Snehithudu 2012 Movie Review

Movie : Snehithudu 2012

Cast : Vijay, Jeeva, Sriram, Ileana D'Cruz, Sathyaraj and Others
Directed by : Shankar
Produced by : Raju Easwaran, Dil R
Banner : Gemini Film Circuit
Music : Harris Jayaraj
Release Date : 2012-01-26

Rating:3/5

Story:

The story is nothing new but 3 IDIOTS. Pani (Vijay) is an intelligent student in the Ideal College of Engineering. His classmates Nikhil (Jeeva) and Venkat (Sri Ram) become his close friends. Nikhil hails from a very poor family while Venkat comes from a middle class family. Pani has stinking rich background and excels very well in studies as well.

Srinu, who is known as silencer is another good student who competes with Pani in marks. In an emotional tiff, Srinu challenges Pani that he would settle very well in life than anybody else in the college. He demands Pani to come to a place on September 5th after 10 years to check who settle well. What happens after 10 years, unleashes the rest of film.

On the other hand Pani falls in love with the daughter (Ileana) of his college Principal Viroopaksha Sundaram (Satyaraj).

Artist performances:

Vijay is ok but for the eyes those watched Aamir Khan in original he will be repugnant. Ileana is not impressive. Her zero size figure is no way spilling any erotic rays. Jeeva is adequate while Sri Ram is perfect. Satya Raj did his part very well taking inspiration from the original perfectly. Rest of the artistes and technicians did well up to the requirement.

Plus points:

Story
Dialogues
Narration
Expensive songs
Minus points:

Length (almost 3 hrs)
Nothing original

Analysis:

The film grips the youth audience well but fails to sustain the interest of those who watch the original 3 Idiots. The songs are good to watch but not enticing to listen. No song haunts or rests in the minds of audience when they come out. The delivery scene is convincing in original due to the presence of artistes and the intact narration, but in Telugu the scene ended up like a Tamil concoction. Delivering a baby with vaccum cleaner is something out of sensibility but Shankar adopted that as usual from original. The film will not disappoint and at the same time it will not boost up the mood. It's a passable entertainer.

Agneepath Movie Review

Agneepath (2012)
Cast : Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor
Director : Karan Malhotra
Producer : Karan Johar, Hiroo Johar
Story:

Master Dinanath Chauhan (Chetan Pandit), a principled man who wants the best for his village Mandwa. Whereas, Kancha (Sanjay Dutt) wants to illegally grow cocaine in the village by fooling and ruling over the poor villagers. Now, he eliminates his only hindrance, Master Chauhan by controversially hanging him in front of his pregnant wife Suhasini (Zarina Wahab) and his 10-year old son Vijay (Hrithik Roshan /Arish Bhiwandiwala). Vijay comes to Mumbai with his mother with only one aim, to get Mandwa back from Kancha. He walks the ‘Agneepath’ (path of fire) that his father has taught him and wins back the trust of his people.

Analysis:

Karan Malhotra’s version of Amitabh Bachchan’s 1990 classic has definitely been tweaked from the original. The basic plot is the same but each member of the team has worked hard to create an original film and have partially succeeded. If Yash Johar’s ‘Agneepath’ is still remembered, Karan Johar’s too will have its own space in the history of Indian cinema.

Performance:

Hrithik Roshan convincingly plays his part. Though he doesn’t look as grand as Big B, his aggression was quite evitable on his face and eyes. Priyanka Chopra looked cute and did a decent job. Rishi Kapoor should be commended for his immense versatility as he is par excellence. Sanjay Dutt looks exceedingly scary and performs par expectations. He impeccably portrays evil. Warina Zahab and Chetan Pandit are decent enough. Also, worth mentioning is the fastastic work by child actor Arish Bhiwandiwala. It seemed as if Hrithik had watched his performance before starting shooting for the film and has improvised on it. ‘Chikni Chameli’ is absolutely entertaining and Katrina Kaif has given it her 100 per cent but casting fails here as a half Indian cannot be portrayed as a Mahrashtrian as she did not suit it.

Technicalities:

Malhotra has earlier assisted Karan Johar with his projects and makes a promising debut. He has a long way to go. He has put in the necessary masala elements in a high octane action drama. Sabu Cyril as a production designer is a master at his craft. Cinematography and picturization are good. Characterization slightly suffers as compared to the original. Ajay-Atul’s Music as well as the background score complements the film. Dialogues have been taken good care of, especially the ones that Sanjay Dutt mouths.

Positives:

- Performances
- Chikni Chameli
Negatives:

- Too much violence to handle

Emraan Hashmi in Karan Johar’s next Movie ??

There were days when Emraan Hashmi did only dark films, loads of love making and that too mainly for Mahesh Bhatt’s films.

But not anymore. If buzz is to be believed, Emraan will be seen in Karan Johar next production to be directed by Rensil D’Silva.

A source close to the production house says, “After Kurbaan, Rensil was supposed to make a film with Salman Khan in the lead role. However, with Salman’s 2012 calendar choc-a-bloc with the many projects he is currently filming, the filmmaker has decided to make another film in the meantime. The ensemble cast for this new project will have Emraan Hashmi in the lead role. The rest of the cast is still being finalised.”

Adds the source, “Having delivered a string of hits, it is clear that Emraan has a massive fan following. The producers realise that Emraan is a big star in the industry today. And thus, Karan Johar and Rensil D’Silva have decided to work with him in their next project.”

There hasn’t been any formal announcemen and as of now everything else about the film is kept under wraps.
